The band formed in 1959 in Niles, Michigan, James (aka Tommy Jackson) was only 12 when he started playing gigs. James was labeled as a bubblegum pop artist, which he hated. So, he changed his style to psychedelic rock. In 1968 the band released "Crimson in Clover" and toured with Hubert Humphrey during his 1968 campaign against Richard Nixon, for president. Humphrey wrote the liner notes for the bands "Crimson in Clover" album. Nixon won and "Turn on, tune in, and drop out" became Timothy Leary's advice. So, drop one, or light one up and enjoy.
